The Reef Aquarium
by Charles Delbeek and Julian Sprung
544 pages  Vol One  ©1994

A detailed guide to the identification and care of tropical marine stony corals and clams.  Covers many aspects of the reef aquaria hobby.  A companion volume covers soft corals in detail.  This is a good work and is recommended to any new hobbyists as one of the more complete treatments for keeping reef aquaria in the home.  This book should be included in any hobbyists library.

Practical Guide to Corals for the Reef Aquarium
by Ed Puterbaugh and Eric Borneman
112 pages  ©1996

An inexpensive light reading softcover book that is a good general coral identification and care guide.

Encyclopedia of Marine Invertebrates
Edited by Jerry G. Walls
736 pages  ©1982

A highly detailed reference book that provides anatomical and natural history information on the various invertebrates

Marine Aquarium Reference - Systems and Invertebrates
by Martin A. Moe Jr.
509 pages  ©1992

This is a good reference book for understanding biological processes in the home reef aquaria.  The specific recommendations tend to be dated, so a reef tank should not be setup using this as the only reference.
