General Observations
The tank is now at the two month mark and going well.  All of the corals are doing extremely well.  SPS growth continues at a fast rate.  Water parameters have settled into the  following range:

bullet

Alkalinity -     4.0 - 4.5meq./l.

bullet

Calcium -      500ppm

bullet

pH -                8.05 Night to 8.3 during the day

bullet

Temp -           78.5 to 81.5F

I have upped water changes to 10 gallons a week.  I am doing this since the tank is a mixed tank and I don't want the soft corals to wage chemical warfare on the SPS corals in the tank.  I am also using the old water to refresh the water in the prop tank since it has high calcium/alkalinity.

New Additions

GreenChromisCloseup2.jpg (29915 bytes) 5 Green Chromis  Chromis viridis - small around 1" long.

2 of them disappeared within the first 2 days.  One was a little sickly to begin  with, the other looked completely healthy.  The remaining 3 are doing very well.

6LineWrasse2.jpg (41348 bytes) 6-Line Wrasse - about 2" long.

Very interesting smaller fish that spends most of its time searching the live rock for small organisms to eat.

EmeraldCrab1.jpg (32952 bytes) Emerald Crab - medium size

Put into tank to see if it would help to keep the bubble algae and sargassum algae under control.

SallyCrabTwo1.jpg (27607 bytes) 2 Sally Lightfoot Crabs - medium size

Put into the tank to see if they would feed on the new turf algae that is growing on some of the rock surfaces.

Fungia2.jpg (40177 bytes) Fungia coral - Approximately 3" across.  Shows a very nice purple tinting along the perimeter.  Placed on the sand in a medium light, moderate current location.

Problems
Algae still needs to be cleaned from the front glass every other day to keep it looking OK.  I do have a new type of algae taking hold on the upper portion of one of the pieces of live rock.  This algae forms short dark brown dense mats that are very stubborn and seem impervious to the toothbrush treatment.  We'll have to keep an eye on this stuff to make sure it doesn't get out of hand.  I've added Sally Lightfoot crabs to see if they would eat the stuff.

TuftAlgae.jpg (39670 bytes) Here is a picture of the turf algae

Both Sea-Swirl returns broke due to a manufacturing defect.  Both were sent back to the manufacturer and repaired for free.  I was very impressed with the customer service of the manufacturer of this product.
